PRIOR BOARD ACTIONS:
Axon Taser Contract Purchased Approved 02/07/2022
BACKGROUND:
During the February 7, 2022 Board of Commissioner’s meeting, the Board approved the Sheriff’s Office request to enter into a five (5) year contract with Axon Enterprises for Tasers and accessories.
The agenda item that was uploaded and presented to the Board contained an early version of the contract and not the final version, which is referenced in the attached documentation. There is a cost difference between the two versions for years 3-5 of the contract. The amount listed for the Purchase Order was $169,656.46, while the recently received invoice and quote are in the amount of $190,530.64.
The Sheriff’s Office requests approval for the additional payment of the difference of $20,874.18. This will allow payment for the current year to get the current invoice processed. Union County Sheriff’s Office will enter a requisition/PO request for the current year to get the pre-audit requirement completed. UCSO will submit years 3-5 as an agenda item for BOCC approval at the correct amount at $190,530.64.
N.C.G.S 143-129(e)(3) and N.C.G.S 143-129(e)(9) allow local governments to make purchases through a competitively bid North Carolina Statewide Term Contract or a Group Purchasing Program.
The purchase of the Axon Taser & Certification Bundles will be made using (NPP) National Purchasing Contract Number PS20270 quoted by Axon Enterprises Inc.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The anticipated cost for the Axon Taser and Certification Bundles is $20,874.63 for years 3-5 and is budgeted accordingly for FY24-26.
