ACTION REQUESTED:

1) Adopt resolution authorizing the execution of a lease of office space at the Union County Agricultural Center to the North Carolina Forest Service, a division of the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, and 2) Authorize the County Manager to negotiate and execute an agreement substantially consistent with this agenda item.

PRIOR BOARD ACTIONS:

The Board has approved similar lease agreements consistent with this agenda item every 3 years, most recently in 2021.

BACKGROUND:

The North Carolina Forest Service, a division of the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services has leased space in the Union County Agricultural Center for the past three (3) years under a lease agreement that expires on March 31, 2024. The North Carolina Forest Service is requesting that the agreement be renewed for another three (3) year term beginning on April 1, 2024, and terminating on March 31, 2027. There are no requested changes in square footage or other facility-related needs.

 

The terms of the lease include the following: 677 net square feet of office space and ± 126 net square feet of storage space, totaling ±803 net square feet located at Union County Agricultural Building. The Lessee shall pay, as rental for said premises, the sum of five thousand and four hundred ($5,400.00) dollars per annum.

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT: 

The County will receive $5,400.00 per annum per the lease terms.
