ACTION REQUESTED:

Appoint Christopher Thomas as the County Commissioner’s Appointee to the Jackson Fire Department Firefighter Relief Fund Board.

None.

BACKGROUND:

The Firefighter’s Local Relief Fund Board consists of a total of five (5) members. Two (2) members are elected by the membership of the department. Two (2) members are appointed by the County Board of Commissioners if the fire department is not a municipal department. One (1) member is appointed by the Commissioner of Insurance. NCGS 58-84-30 provides for the appointment of trustees and the organization of the relief fund board. Albert Starnes has stepped down from the Relief Fund Board.
