INFORMATION CONTACT:

Liz Cooper, Public Communications Assistant Director, 704-283-3587

ACTION REQUESTED:

Recognize Beth Belk and her efforts to connect departments with additional resources to help local families.

BACKGROUND:

Union County Administrative Support Specialist Beth Belk is being recognized for going above and beyond to connect residents with resources from multiple County departments. Belk works in the Fire Marshal's Office and recently connected employees in Social Services with the local non-profit Safe Kids, as well as the Firefighters Burned Children Fund.

That connection resulted in a family who was working with Social Services receiving monetary assistance from the Firefighters Burned Children Fund to help the family with expenses when two children were being treated at the hospital for burns sustained in a house fire. The Management Team recognized Haney’s helpful actions by surprising her with the Fall 2021 Caught in the Act Award on November 3, 2021.

Caught in the Act is a recognition program for Union County employees. This program allows an opportunity to recognize and thank employees for going above and beyond expected roles within their job description. Recipients of the recognition program are selected four times a year.
