ACTION REQUESTED:
Open comment period to solicit names for new and modified roads.

None.
BACKGROUND:
The NCDOT is modifying the road network west of downtown Waxhaw to close two at-grade railroad crossings with a bridge spanning the CSX railroad and NC 75. This will affect Helms Road and Tory Path Road, in addition to two new roads created. Union County and Waxhaw are responsible for naming these roads. Staff propose opening a 30-day comment period in coordination with Waxhaw to receive input on potential names before conducting a public hearing to consider naming the roads. All affected property owners would receive a postcard asking for their input, as well as alerting the community through the Union County Communications Department.

Cost to fabricate new road signs.
