ACTION REQUESTED:
Authorize the County Manager to negotiate and execute an agreement substantially consistent with this agenda item.

BACKGROUND:
The Union County Water (UCW) Capital Improvement Program (CIP) includes an allocation for the design of water line betterments related to NCDOT’s project for the widening of NC 16. The water line betterments will include the addition of a 36” water transmission main from SR 3530 (Waxhaw Parkway) to Providence Road Booster Pump Station; increase water main diameters between Rustic Oak Court and Kemble Street; and the addition of a 12” water main between Kemble Street and a point south of Kensington Drive. These betterments will help the system provide sufficient fire flow and pressure to meet future demands.
The design of the water betterments will be administered by NCDOT as part of the NC 16 widening project. UCW will be responsible for reimbursing NCDOT for the betterment design costs in a not to exceed amount of $605,000.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Funding is available within the adopted account 60184131 - 821 Zone Providence Road BPS Supply to support the contract amount of $605,000.
