The regular meeting of the Union County Board of Commissioners scheduled for Monday, February 2, 2026, will not be held out of an abundance of caution for public safety due to inclement weather.  All items on the agenda will move to the next regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.

ACTION REQUESTED:

Recognize the agencies from Union County that responded to assist during Hurricane Helene.

PRIOR BOARD ACTIONS:

None.

BACKGROUND:

Union County Emergency Management accepted a flag and certificate from NC Emergency Management during their annual conference last month recognizing the agencies that deployed to Western NC during Hurricane Helene. The following agencies from Union County are being recognized for their response: Union County Sheriff’s Office, Union County Water, Union County Environmental Health, Union County Social Services, Union County 911, Union County Public Communications, Monroe Fire Department, Bakers Fire Department, Mineral Springs Fire Department, Wesley Chapel Fire Department, Stallings Police Department, Monroe Police Department, Waxhaw Police Department, Union EMS, and the Town of Waxhaw. These agencies provided a variety of services to various cities and counties of Western North Carolina.
