BACKGROUND:

In March 2024, deputies assigned to courtroom duty at the Judicial Center witnessed a 61-year-old man suffer a severe medical emergency. These deputies immediately sprang into action when the man suddenly lost consciousness. Their initial assessment revealed no pulse, prompting them to initiate life-saving measures immediately.

Using their training, the deputies performed CPR on the unconscious man and quickly accessed and deployed an automated external defibrillator (AED). After administering a shock from the AED and conducting multiple rounds of CPR, the man regained consciousness.

Medical professionals later determined the medical emergency was directly related to a heart issue. As of now, he is on the road to recovery, thanks in large part to the timely intervention of the deputies.

FINANCIAL IMPACT:

None.
