body

INFORMATION CONTACT:

Aubrey Lofton, Union County Water, Planning & Resource Management Director, 704-296-4241

ACTION REQUESTED:

Adopt the resolution to approve the 2024 Local Water Supply Plan as required by NCGS 143-355(l).

PRIOR BOARD ACTIONS:

May 18, 2020, Regular Meeting, Agenda Item #18 - Approve 2018 Local Water Supply Plan - Adopted resolution to approve the 2018 Local Water Supply Plan

BACKGROUND:

The Department of Environmental Quality's Division of Water Resources requires that all public water supplies complete a Local Water Supply Plan (LWSP) every year. The LWSP requires a variety of water and wastewater information including: statistics for the current water distribution infrastructure, general information on programs including meter replacement and water conservation public education, monthly water usage and wastewater flows, water usage by customer type, water demand and wastewater flow projections, and current and future planned water and wastewater plant capacity. The 2024 LWSP reflects the water usage and wastewater flow projections consistent with the Water and Wastewater Master Plan completed in 2025.

DWR requires that every five (5) years the governing body of a public water supply adopts a resolution approving the most recently completed LWSP. DWR marks a LWSP as "complete" once all of the information is submitted and checked for quality by DWR staff.

FINANCIAL IMPACT:
