ACTION REQUESTED:
Appoint Union County Board of Commissioners representative to open position on the Monroe-Union County Economic Development Commission Board of Directors to run through the remainder of the current term, June 30, 2026.
PRIOR BOARD ACTIONS:
None.
BACKGROUND:
As set forth in Section 2(a) of the Interlocal Agreement between Union County and the City of Monroe establishing the Monroe-Union County Economic Development Commission, it is provided that Board members serve one-year terms, commencing on July 1 and running through June 30 of each year. Commissioner Sides was appointed (serving ex officio) as a BOCC-appointed EDC Board Member. In the case of a vacancy, the appointing board shall appoint a new member to serve the remainder of the unexpired term.
Due to Commissioner Sides’ resignation and unfortunate passing, the Board of County Commissioners is requested to consider appointing a person to fill his position on the EDC Board of Directors.
