BACKGROUND:
These proposed text amendments are based on recommendations outlined in the Union County 2050 Comprehensive Plan. The Comprehensive Plan outlines several strategies that will help implement the vision of the plan; one of which is updating and increasing our stormwater standards. The Board of County Commissioners then established an implementation committee to make specific recommendations concerning all of the strategies. Two specific recommendations concerning updating and increasing our stormwater standards are to expand stormwater requirements to all types of development that exceed one acre of land disturbance or 0.25 acre of impervious area and to increase the storm event we regulate from the 25-year event to the 50-year event. These implementation strategies were approved by the Board of County Commissioners in January of 2024.
