ACTION REQUESTED:
Adopt Budget Amendment 22 and Capital Project Ordinance 306C.
PRIOR BOARD ACTIONS:
October 21, 2019, Regular Meeting, Agenda Item # 25 - $50,000 contribution was committed.
BACKGROUND:
The NCDOT - Division 10, Monroe, and Union County partnered on an intersection improvement application to the Charlotte Regional Transportation Planning Organization (CRTPO) to improve the intersection of NC 84 and Rocky River Road. This project will install additional turn lanes at the intersection and was recommended in the 2019 Critical Intersection Analysis. The City of Monroe also committed $50,000 to this project.
The Capital Improvement Program that funds these projects receives $100,000 per year and this request does not increase the total funding of the program. Delaying until July 1, 2025, may result in delays by the NCDOT in awarding the engineering contract to begin work on this project. There is no increase in Critical Intersection Program funding requested as part of this action.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Appropriate $50,000 of General Fund fund balance committed to this project.
