Conduct public hearing for proposed rezoning.

BACKGROUND:
This case is a request to rezone a 26.06 acre parcel appearing on the tax map as tax parcel 04-039-012 located on US 601 from RA-40 to Light Industrial. This is a straight rezoning and there are no site plan or conditions associated with this request.
The Land Use Board unanimously recommended approval of this rezoning request at its August 18, 2026, meeting, citing consistency with the Land Use Map. No members of the public spoke at the meeting.
To make a decision on this rezoning petition, the Board of Commissioners can consider the following motions:
To approve the proposed amendment (the proposal is consistent with the current plan)
Motion
(i) Adopt the Ordinance Approving Revision to the Official Zoning Map of Union County, North Carolina, and (ii) adopt the consistency and reasonableness statement for approval.
To deny the proposed amendment (the proposal is inconsistent with the current plan)
Motion
(i) Deny rezoning petition RZ-2026-010 from Randall York; and (ii) adopt the consistency and reasonableness statement for denial.
