ACTION REQUESTED:
Adopt Resolution to Create a Broadband Committee.
PRIOR BOARD ACTIONS:
1) August 16, 2021, Regular Meeting, Agenda Item # 39 - Union County 2050 Comprehensive Plan was approved by the Board.
2) January 2, 2024, Regular Meeting, Agenda Item # 24-074 - Union County 2050 Implementation Committee Presentation Schedule was approved by the Board.
3) January 16, 2024, Regular Meeting, Agenda Item # 24-031- Union County 2050 Broadband Recommendations were approved by the Board.
BACKGROUND:
The Board of Commissioners approved the recommendations to address broadband internet access at its January 16, 2024, regular meeting. Staff recommend first establishing the Committee to provide oversight for subsequent strategies to address this issue. Committee appointments will be made by the Board of Commissioners at a future meeting, likely in May.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Traditional costs for committee administration, including member mileage reimbursement and any stipend approved by the Board of Commissioners.
