ACTION REQUESTED:

Consider approving designs for six intersections.

PRIOR BOARD ACTIONS:

October 2, 2023, Regular Meeting, Agenda Item # 23-666 - To submit application to CRTPO for study.

BACKGROUND:

Union County, in partnership with Fairview, Indian Trail, Marvin, Monroe, and Wesley Chapel, undertook a study of six intersections identified in previous critical intersection analyses to identify preliminary designs and cost estimates to use in future grant applications to construct the preferred designs. The six intersections are:

                     Waxhaw-Indian Trail and Billy Howey

                     NC 218 and Indian Trail-Fairview

                     Joe Kerr and Marvin

                     Stacy Howie and Waxhaw-Marvin

                     Franklin and Johnson

                     Rogers and Wesley Chapel

The recommended designs have been endorsed by the municipalities and are consistent with the public input received for each intersection. The NCDOT participated throughout this process. They do not provide an approval in studies such as this one but have concurred with the recommendations.

FINANCIAL IMPACT:

None.
