BACKGROUND:
Complete power train rebuild of the 826K CAT compactor piece of equipment. Manufacturer recommendation is to rebuild the piece of equipment at 12,000 hours. Union County Solid Waste’s 826K compactor has 11,323 hours, currently.
N.C.G.S 143-129(e)(3) and N.C.G.S 143-129(e)(9) allow local governments to make purchases through a competitively bid North Carolina Statewide Term Contract or a Group Purchasing Program.
The purchase of the CAT 826K Compactor rebuild will be made using NCS Contract #2210-A quoted by Carolina CAT.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The anticipated cost for the CAT 826K compactor rebuild is $686,862.01 and is budgeted accordingly for FY2027.
