INFORMATION CONTACT:
Dennis Joyner, Human Services Agency - Public Health Department, Director, 704-296-4801
ACTION REQUESTED:
1) Recognize, receive and appropriate $10,000 in FY2025 funding (Agreement Addendum 720) from the NC Division of Public Health for seasonal Influenza efforts to the Human Services Public Health Department and 2) approve Budget Amendment 10.
PRIOR BOARD ACTIONS:
None.
BACKGROUND:
Supplemental funding is available through the NC Division of Public Health’s Agreement Addendum 720 to local health departments to enhance or develop farmworker seasonal influenza vaccination efforts. This is necessary due to the ongoing circulation of H5 avian influenza (including in wild birds, poultry, and dairy cattle) in the United States, and the prior identification of cases in North Carolina. Participating local health departments are to focus on removing barriers and expanding their seasonal influenza and COVID-19 vaccination programs for livestock, dairy, and poultry farmworkers.
The goal of this Activity is to protect vulnerable populations and critical infrastructure, and to reduce the burden to rural health care providers in treating respiratory illnesses in the fall and winter seasons. Funding will be used for operational supplies and staffing support in carrying out the program activities.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Additional funding of $10,000 is awarded for FY25 with no County match required.
