BACKGROUND:
The proposed text amendments modify the UDO by revising the UDO’s applicability requirements for minor subdivisions and clarifying the definition of “Subdivision, Minor.” This includes establishing that the eight-lot maximum applies cumulatively to the original tract as it existed on February 14, 1978, regardless of subsequent divisions by streets, rights-of-way, or other strips of land.
The Land Use Board reviewed these amendments at their regular October meeting and unanimously recommended approval.
Motions for approval or denial
To approve the text amendments (the text amendments are consistent with the current plan)
Motion
(i) Adopt the Ordinance Approving Text Amendments to the Unified Development Ordinance of Union County, North Carolina, and (ii) adopt the consistency and reasonableness statement for approval.
To deny the proposed text amendment (the text amendments are inconsistent with the current plan)
Motion
(i) Deny the text amendments set forth in TXT-2026-003; and (ii) adopt the consistency and reasonableness statement for denial.
