Joint Resolution In Support of Ending Contract Tracing and Quarantine Requirements of North Carolina Public Schools
body
ACTION REQUESTED:
To approve the joint resolution
BACKGROUND:
Contact tracing and quarantining of individuals exposed to positive cases have been important components of control measure protocols for minimizing the spread of COVID-19. However, as the pandemic has evolved and will continue to do so in the future, carrying out contact tracing and quarantines has become increasingly challenging in the school setting and create additional hardships for students and parents due to exclusions. Additionally, with the recent availability of vaccinations for school age children and other treatments, the practice and requirement of contact tracing and quarantining in the school setting should be reassessed by the State.
