BACKGROUND:
Union County Board of Elections has received an Honorable Mention from the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) in the 2024 Clearinghouse Awards. This recognition was awarded for the Board of Election’s successful and engaging “I Voted” Sticker contest, which showcased innovation in voter outreach and civic engagement.
Union County’s sticker contest earned high marks from an independent panel of judges, comprising of current and former election officials, EAC Commissioners, and members of the EAC’s advisory boards. Across the United States, 53 jurisdictions received Honorable Mentions, alongside 44 official award winners. Jurisdictions honored ranged from small counties to large states, reflecting a broad spectrum of excellence in election administration. Each year, the EAC honors outstanding achievement in election administration through the Clearinghouse Awards.
Established under the Help America Vote Act of 2002 (HAVA), the EAC serves as a national clearinghouse for election information, and the awards are a key part of that mission. The awards recognize innovation, sustainability, outreach, cost-effectiveness, replicability, and positive impact.
