BACKGROUND:
Camp New Providence, a former Continental Army and militia encampment located in Union County, near what is today N.C. Highway 16 (Providence Road) at Six Mile Creek, is being recognized for its historical significance and importance in the success of the American efforts and victory in the Revolutionary War.
