ACTION REQUESTED:
1) Authorize continued expenditures for an additional 50 autopsies; and 2) authorize the County Manager to i) negotiate and execute an Agreement substantially consistent with this agenda item, ii) exercise any renewal or extension term options set forth in the Agreement, and iii) terminate the Agreement if deemed in the best interest of the County, each in the County Manager’s discretion.

BACKGROUND:
This authorization will extend the scope of Medical Investigation Services, PLLC, to include the capacity to conduct 50 autopsies at a total of $150,000 ($3,000 per autopsy). This request is supported by North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services’ (NCDHHS) Division of Public Health’s (DPH) funding for the South Piedmont Regional Autopsy Center (SPRAC), which will serve Anson, Cabarrus, Gaston, Montgomery, Moore, Richmond, Rowan, Stanly, and Union counties.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Funding for the additional services is available in the FY2025 budget.
