BACKGROUND:

Union County will host a public screening of A Moment of Change on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2026, at Wingate University. Produced by 100 Strong Productions, the documentary and visual storytelling division of the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners, the film features six North Carolina counties, including Union County, and examines how county governments are addressing growth, changing community needs and other challenges while working to preserve the unique characteristics of their communities. Union County's segment includes interviews with Board of Commissioners Chairman Brian Helms and County staff highlighting growth-related challenges and strategic initiatives underway to plan for the County's future.

The documentary screening will be followed by a panel discussion with County leaders focused on Union County's approach to thoughtfully manage growth, including efforts related to rural land use planning, land preservation, agriculture, and economic development. The event is free and open to the public; however, seating is limited and advanced registration is required. Additional event information and registration details are available on unioncountync.gov.
