BACKGROUND:

During the recent National Association of Counties (NACo) Annual Conference, Union County's Information Technology Department was recognized with a 4th-place national ranking in the Digital Counties Survey among counties with populations between 250,000 and 500,000. This marks the eighth consecutive year Union County has been recognized among the nation's Top 10 Digital Counties and the second time the County has achieved a Top 5 national ranking. Conducted by the Center for Digital Government (CDG), in partnership with NACo, the survey recognizes counties that demonstrate excellence in leveraging technology to improve service delivery, strengthen cybersecurity, encourage interdepartmental collaboration, and implement innovative solutions that support organizational priorities. This recognition reflects Union County's continued commitment to aligning technology initiatives with the County's Strategic Plan through effective technology governance, documented policies and procedures, and industry best practices that promote security, operational efficiency, accountability, compliance, and responsible stewardship of public resources. These efforts help ensure technology investments deliver measurable value, reduce organizational risk, and support the County's ability to provide reliable, efficient, and secure services to residents, businesses, visitors, and employees.
