BACKGROUND:

The Rural Land Use Plan steering committee approved a series of proposed strategies for public comment at its June 24, 2025, meeting. A public comment period began June 27 and concluded July 20. A total of 166 residents provided their feedback. Committee chairman Allan Baucom will present an update on the committee’s work, proposed strategies, Land Use Board and public feedback, and next steps.

The Land Use Board received an update at its July 15 meeting. The Board did not take action at the meeting, but did generally support the proposed strategies. The Board did have some concern over how to pay for expanding the agricultural easement program, however.

FINANCIAL IMPACT:

None.
