The regular meeting of the Union County Board of Commissioners scheduled for Monday, February 2, 2026, will not be held out of an abundance of caution for public safety due to inclement weather.  All items on the agenda will move to the next regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.

ACTION REQUESTED:

Conduct a public hearing regarding the proposed Schedules of Values, Standards, and Rules to be used in appraising real property at its true value and its present-use value in the 2025 Union County Reappraisal.

PRIOR BOARD ACTIONS:

None.

BACKGROUND:

At its October 21, 2024, meeting, the Board received the proposed Schedules of Values, Standards, and Rules to be used in appraising real property at both its true value and its present-use value in the 2025 Union County reappraisal (the "Proposed Schedules"). In accordance with North Carolina General Statutes § 105-317(c)(2), a public hearing regarding the Proposed Schedules must be held at least seven days before the Board's adoption of the Proposed Schedules. Notice of such a public hearing was duly published in accordance with statutory requirements. The adoption of the Proposed Schedules is set for consideration at the Board's November 18, 2024, regularly scheduled meeting. The Proposed Schedules are available for public inspection in the Tax Administrator's Office at 500 North Main St., Suite 236, Monroe, NC 28112.
