ACTION REQUESTED:
Authorize the County Manager to a) negotiate and execute an agreement substantially consistent with this agenda item, b) exercise any renewal or extension term options set forth in the Agreement, and c) terminate the Agreement if deemed in the best interest of the County, each in the County Manager's discretion.

BACKGROUND:
This contract revision acknowledges and adds three (3) FTEs to the Town of Indian Trail's Law Enforcement Services contract, as approved in the both the FY2026 Union County Budget and the FY2026 Town of Indian Trail Budget. Two (2) new deputy sheriffs and one (1) deputy sheriff-sergeant position were approved as part of both FY2026 Budgets to further enhance the law enforcement services provided by the Union County Sheriff's Office to the Town of Indian Trial.
The original contract for two (2) deputies was entered into on July 13, 1999, and has been revised and amended as the Town has grown. With the addition of the positions mentioned above, the UC Sheriff's Office now has thirty-eight (38) positions assigned to the Town. These positions vary in rank and responsibility. Attached to this agenda item is the letter provided to the Town by Union County Budget & Grants Management staff detailing the most current staffing model and associated costs. This contract allows the Union County Sheriff's Office to continue providing law enforcement services to the Town of Indian Trail.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The total cost of the FY2026 Law Enforcement Services contract for the Town of Indian Trail is $5,805,343. The Town of Indian Trail is responsible for 90% of that cost, in the amount of $5,244,809.
