ACTION REQUESTED:
1) Accept the low bidder, 2) authorize award of the contract to Rushing Contracting Group, in the amount of $860,437.60, 3) authorize the County Manager to negotiate and execute and agreement substantially consistent with this Agenda item, 4) adopt CPO#288E and 5) adopt Resolution Providing Notice of Construction of the Cane Creek Camp Store.
BACKGROUND:
This contract is to build a new camp store at the Cane Creek Campground. The new camp store is planned to be approximately 1,400 gsf with amenities including parking, wraparound porch, easy access at two points close to parking and walking paths. There will also be built-in counters, office space and restrooms. The project will also include utility connections for water, electric, sewer, gas and communication feeds. The camp store will be aesthetically similar to a cabin to be consistent with the theme of the campground. The existing camp store is aged and too small to service the campground customers well. The new camp store will allow Parks and Recreation to provide a more positive customer experience through additional services and product offerings in a more appropriate setting and atmosphere.
On August 23, 2024, the Procurement Department partnered with Facilities Management to issue an Invitation for Bid 2024-063. On September 24, 2024, seven (7) responsive bids for the title project were received and processed. All bids were tabulated, reviewed, and certified by Creech and Associates. Bids ranged from $860,437.60 to $1,312,010.70. Staff recommends that the project be awarded to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder, Rushing Contracting Group in the amount of $860,437.60.
