PRIOR BOARD ACTIONS:
August 1, 2022, Regular Meeting, Agenda Item # 22-515 - Approved award of the construction contract for the project to Dellinger, Inc.
BACKGROUND:
The Capital Improvement Program, as adopted by the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC), includes an allocation for installing a fourth finished water pump at the Catawba River Water Treatment Plant to provide additional pumping capacity and redundancy. The project consists of the installation of one finished water pump with accompanying piping, electrical, and control modifications.
The BOCC previously approved the award of the construction contract to Dellinger, Inc. with Union County’s obligation being 50% of the contract value, or $808,450.00. During the construction of the project, it was determined that additional electrical work and painting were needed to complete the project. These recommended items of additional work resulted in Change Order No. 1 increasing the contract amount by $50,029.32, with Union County and LCWSD each being responsible for 50% of the change order amount, or $25,014.66 each. UCW engineering staff recommends approval of Change Order No. 1 in the total amount of $50,029.32, bringing the total contract price to $1,666,929.32. Union County is responsible for 50% of the change order value, or $25,014.66, bringing Union County’s portion of the contract to $833,464.66. Change Order No. 1 is the final contract adjustment for the project.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Funding is available within the adopted Capital Improvement Program for this project to support the Change Order No. 1 amount of $50,029.32, bringing the total contract amount to $1,666,929.32. The cost will be shared equally between Union County and Lancaster County Water and Sewer District, with Union County’s financial responsibility for the change order being $25,029.66, which brings Union County’s financial responsibility for the total contract amount to $833,464.66.
