INFORMATION CONTACT:

Traci Colley, Human Services Agency, Public Health Department, Director, 704-296-4801

ACTION REQUESTED:

Authorize the County Manager to 1) negotiate and execute an agreement substantially consistent with this agenda item, 2) exercise any renewal or extension term options set forth in the Agreement, and 3) terminate the Agreement if deemed in the best interest of the County, each in the County Manager's discretion.

PRIOR BOARD ACTIONS:

April 18, 2022, Regular Meeting, Agenda Item # 22-234 - Approved

BACKGROUND:

Anson County Health Department has requested assistance from the Union County Public Health Department to provide maternal health services for pregnant Anson County residents or refer to a private provider in the community, whichever is applicable. Anson County Health Department does not have the capacity to fully provide maternal health services as stipulated by the State Division of Public Health and seeks to assure those services through an agreement with the Union County Public Health Division. Union County Public Health will assess each patient’s ability to pay, and charge fees based on a sliding fee scale, while also ensuring that no patient is refused care or services because of inability to pay. This is consistent with how Union County Public Health provides maternal health services to Union County residents. The projected number of patients seen is under 10 annually. This is an open-term agreement.

FINANCIAL IMPACT:

Union County will receive $30,000 annually from Anson County Health Department for the provision of maternal health services under this agreement. No additional County funding is requested.
