Convey Law Enforcement Canine “Kamil”

ACTION REQUESTED:
1) Make determination that the UCSO service animal, Kamil, is no longer needed for public service and 2) authorize the County Manager to negotiate and execute an agreement substantially consistent with this agenda item.

BACKGROUND:
Union County Sheriff’s Office has retired canine, “Kamil”, a 7-year-old German Shepherd full-service canine. “Kamil” served 4-5 years as a full-service canine to include tracking duties. He served as a member of UCSO K-9 Patrol and had several successful locates working with his partner/handler Deputy Sheriff Sam Clark. “Kamil” is highly trained and not an average pet the Sheriff’s Office is compelled to ensure he is responsibly placed in a home that understands his training, therefore, the best person to place “Kamil” with would be his handler, Deputy Clark.
