ACTION REQUESTED:
Authorize the County Manager to negotiate and execute an agreement substantially consistent with this agenda item.
PRIOR BOARD ACTIONS:
May 1, 2023, Regular Meeting, Agenda Item # 23-211 - Awarded construction contract, authorized execution of contract, and adopted resolution providing notice of construction.
BACKGROUND:
The Patton Avenue Warehouse Renovations project’s initial construction contract was approved by the Board at its May 1, 2023 meeting. The project will renovate the former Surplus Property Warehouse to become the new Radio Installation Shop. The renovation includes a clean workroom for technicians, an office, breakroom and restroom facilities. The project will also replace a portion of existing concrete floor slab with heavy duty concrete slab for heavy vehicles, add a roll up door and provide some conditioned workspace.
Facilities Management has utilized the contractual services of Ground Thunder Construction for construction services on the Patton Avenue Warehouse Renovation Project since August 8, 2023. Ground Thunder Construction has been effective and efficient in meeting our service needs, and we are requesting to approve the contract amendment to add additional grading services, and to add an additional 82 days to the contract time for the additional work.
The contractor has submitted Change Order #1 in the amount of $4,466.58 to cover these unexpected costs. The original contract price was $847,700.52 and with this change order will increase to $852,167.10.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The cost of this change order is $4,466.58. There are sufficient funds in the Patton Avenue Warehouse Renovations capital budget to cover this expense.
