PRIOR BOARD ACTIONS:

May 15, 2023, Regular Meeting, Agenda Item # 23-269 - The Board adopted the CDBG 2023 Annual Action Plan.

BACKGROUND:

Union County became an Entitlement Grantee in 2016 and began receiving an annual allocation of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) on July 1, 2016. CDBG funds are intended to provide low- and moderate-income households with viable communities, including decent housing, a suitable living environment, and expanded economic opportunities.

This sub-recipient agreement between the County and the City of Monroe will facilitate the purchase of a Large-Volume Ventilation Fan by the City of Monroe Fire Department. This life saving equipment will aid in the removal of smoke, heat, and products of combustion during fire and hazardous material response calls.

FINANCIAL IMPACT:

The Ventilation Fan cost is $153,052.40 and CDBG funds are available reimburse this purchase.
