BACKGROUND:

Union County Water maintains and operates five Water Reclamation Facilities (WFR’s). The WRF’s utilize a calcium hydroxide (lime) slurry to balance the pH and add alkalinity for sufficient wastewater treatment.

On February 22, 2024, the Procurement Department partnered with Union County Water to issue an Invitation for Bid  2024-053 Calcium Hydroxide Slurry. On March 11, 2024, one bid for the project was received and processed. The bid was reviewed and certified by Union County Water. The bid amount was $179,510 annually. Staff recommends that the project be awarded to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder, Polytec, Inc, in the amount of $179,510 per year.

FINANCIAL IMPACT:

The anticipated annual cost for this service is $179,510. Since this contract contains an initial term of two years and three optional one-year renewals, a total of $879,550 is estimated to be spent. Funding is available in the adopted FY2024 budget appropriation with future expenditures subject to annual BOCC budget appropriation.
