Review and approve staff recommendations for Broadband Committee board appointments.
PRIOR BOARD ACTIONS:
March 4, 2024, Regular Meeting, Agenda Item # 24-136 - Board adopted resolution to establish broadband committee.
BACKGROUND:
The Broadband Committee was established by the Union County Board of Commissioners at its regular meeting on March 4th, 2024. The Internet Broadband Committee will oversee the development of a broadband plan for Union County, in addition to reviewing the implementation of other approved recommendations. The Board of County Commissioners may direct staff to dissolve the Broadband Committee if/when the scope of the committee’s work is deemed complete. Membership on the committee is limited to seven Union County residents who represent the following categories: education, business, internet technology, social service, and agriculture. These vacancies were advertised in accordance with the Board’s Rules of Procedure. The committee members and their proposed terms are listed below. Staff will recommend new Broadband Committee board appointments to vacant seats unless/until directed by the Board of County Commissioners to dissolve the committee.
