ACTION REQUESTED:
Authorize the County Manager to 1) negotiate and execute an agreement substantially consistent with this agenda item, 2) exercise any renewal or extension term options set forth in the Agreement, and 3) terminate the Agreement if deemed in the best interest of the County, each in the County Manager's discretion.

BACKGROUND:
Union County Water Truck #16-06 is an 18-year-old piece of equipment with a mileage of 71,168 that has met the criteria by Union County Fleet and has reached its useful life. Currently, the County has spent approximately $10,500 on maintenance, but this piece of equipment is currently at a shop requiring multiple mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic repairs and has been out of service for an extended period of time. In addition, this vehicle has been towed several times over the years due to mechanical issues and controls malfunctions and has become unreliable for our crews.
The Sewer Vac/Jet Combo Truck is a vital piece of equipment that supports our maintenance efforts for the entire sewer system. It allows our operations personnel to efficiently clear blocked pipes, clean lines for inspection, clean our pump stations, and support our maintenance efforts at our water reclamation facilities. Our proposed replacement is a smaller variant and will increase our operational flexibility.
The replacement truck has been budgeted for in our FY24 budget. N.C.G.S 143-129(e)(3) and N.C.G.S 143-129(e)(9) allow local governments to make purchases through a competitively bid North Carolina Statewide Term Contract or a Group Purchasing Program.
