BACKGROUND:
The applicant, ATI Specialty Materials, LLC, is requesting a variance to eliminate 1.987.00 linear feet of the sidewalk requirement on the property located at 3412 Goldmine Road, more specifically identified by Union County as parcel #04168002G. The sidewalk requirement can be found in the Union County Development Ordinance Section 60.110 “Public and Private Streets and Sidewalks.”
This variance is being requested to protect the endangered plant species, Schweinitz’s sunflowers, presently on the property and in close proximity to a portion of the proposed sidewalk location. Information on the endangered Schweinitz’s sunflowers can be found in the Union County Development Ordinance Article 75 “Sunflower Protection.”
